Scholarship Information
EARLY LEARNING COALITION OF BROWARD COUNTY, INC. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, Inc. (ELC) and Family Central, Inc. (FCI) share a commitment to enhance quality child care through staff development. Thus, the ELC has funded FCI to administer a Professional Development Scholarship Program for the followings:
1. 120 clock hours of formal child care education leading to a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential from the Council for Professional Recognition’s National Credentialing Program.
2. Scholarship funding for college-credit courses in early childhood education at accredited institutions college-credit courses.
a) Two (2) college courses (up to six (6) credits) per semester for any student who is enrolled in an ECE program leading to a degree at an accredited college or university; or
b) One (1) college level ECE course (up to three (3) credits), every five (5) years, for a non-degree seeking individual.
3. Scholarships for applicants who enroll in and complete up to 10 hours of non-credit in-service or CEU workshops. In-service workshops must be provided by an approved training institution and/or trainers.
The professional scholarship is available for applicants working in the facility that serve children receiving school readiness funding who are not qualified for T.E.A.C.H. scholarships or any other scholarship such as Pell, SEEK, Bright Futures, etc. Those applicants whose child care programs participate in the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) program have priority to receive Coalition-funded professional development scholarships for the CDA Credential, college credit, and in-service workshops.
