How To Register My Child for Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)

School Year 2009-2010, Summer 2010, and School Year 2010-2011

Application and Registration Process for Parents/Guardians

Summer 2011:
Four year old children are eligible if birth date is between 09/02/05 - 09/01/06 and who have not participated in the School Year 2010-2011 VPK Program.

School Year 2011-2012:

Four year old children are eligible if birth date is between 09/02/06-09/01/07.
Enrollment is ongoing.

Parents/Guardians May Enroll Their Children in the VPK Program by Following the Steps Listed Below:


Step 1

Obtain a VPK Child Application from this site or at a Community Registration Site.  Please note - Social Security numbers are not required when completing the AWI-VPK 01 Child Application.

Step 2

Complete the VPK Child Application, a short one page form.

Step 3

Download our Parent’s/Guardian’s Information Form and complete or obtain one from a community registration site.  Please note - Social Security numbers are not required when completing the Parent’s/Guardian’s Information Form.

Step 4

The Parent’s/Guardian’s Information Form provided in Step 3 allows for you to type the required fields and print to bring to a Community Registration site.

Step 5

Submit the VPK Child Application and the Parent’s/Guardian’s Information Form by bringing it to a Community Registration Site Along with:

  • Proof of Florida Residency (valid driver’s license, current electric bill) 
  • Proof of Child’s Birth date (birth certificate, passport)

Parents/Guardians will need to bring a COPY of the proof to be left with the application.

Parents/Guardians MUST meet with a VPK Registrar in person to complete the Registration process.

Step 6

When the application process is complete, the parent/guardian will receive:

  • A list of Provisionally Eligible and Approved Broward VPK providers
  • A Certificate of Eligibility to present to the VPK provider of choice

Once the parent/guardian has selected a VPK program and gives the VPK provider the Certificate of Eligibility, the child is officially enrolled into the VPK program. However, each school will have additional registration paperwork to complete.
