School-Age Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) Training Program


The Florida Department of Children and Families School-Age Credential Training Program (FCCPC)  is a DCF training program that consists of a minimum of 120 hours (80 hours in the classroom and 40 hours of DCF training) of early childhood instruction and 480 contact hours with school-age children 


1. Valid photo I.D.:  Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.

2. Child Care Transcript with the 40 Hr. State Mandated Childcare Training completed.  This can be found on the website.

Important Timeframes

Within the First 90 Days of Employment

Child care personnel must begin training within the first 90 days of employment in the child care industry by:
  • starting a training course,
  • taking a child care competency exam, or
  • earning an educational exemption.
One (1) Year From Date Training Began
All of the 40-hour required training must be completed one (1) year from the date the training began. Child care personnel must pass competency exams for the 40 hours of training to demonstrate their competency or receive an educational exemption.


The 40-hour training for child care personnel working in facilities serving only school-age children can meet by completing:

  • Child Care Facility Rules and Regulations (FACR – 6 hours)
  • Health Safety and Nutrition (HSAN – 8 hours)
  • Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (CAAN – 4 hours)
  • Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practice (UDAP – 5 hours)
  • School Age-Appropriate Practices (SAPR – 5 hours)

Total: 28 hours

The remaining 12 hours...

Completion of the following online courses:
School-Age Program Quality Standards and Self-Assessment (SALT – 12 hours), which is a combination of the following courses:
  • Standards for Quality Afterschool Programs (SQAP – 8 hours)
  • Quality Self-Assessment and Improvement for Afterschool Programs (QSAI – 4 hours)
PLEASE NOTE: If you have completed SQAP or QSAI, you should not take SALT.



Completion of the following Department online courses:
  • Child Growth and Development (CGDR – 6 hours)
  • Behavioral Observation and Screening (BOSR – 6 hours)

3. Original High School Diploma or GED obtained from institutions accredited and recognized by U. S. Department of Education and submit documentation as proof. High school diplomas issued by private schools that are registered with the Florida Department of Education will also be accepted. If a high school diploma is earned outside the U. S., it must be translated by someone who is a member of the American Translators Association, an approved credential evaluation agency approved by the Bureau of Educators Certification, or an accredited college/university.

4. Employer Verification Letter: At least 400 hours employed or volunteering in a child care setting which must be verified in writing on company letterhead. See guidelines here.

Should the training reference a specific product, material, instrument, or service, the Training Academy Manager or Program Administrator is accountable for ensuring that the instructor either has no proprietary interest or makes a full disclosure. Family Central, Inc. reserves the right to dismiss any instructor who fails to make a full disclosure regarding proprietary interest with regards to any aspect of a training event. In the unlikely event that an instructor does have proprietary interests and is still contracted to conduct a training or workshop, this information will be communicated to prospective participants prior to the start of the program through promotional avenues.
